The Lewin Family

In 1913 Arthur Lewin bought the property “Russekeila” from Mr Norberg. In the beginning, the area was occupied to ensure that the salmon was kept in Linnéelva and Linnéevatnet. On behalf of the company, M Lewin & Co, St Petersburg, he also got hold of areas in Dickson and Ekmanfjorden, Colesdalen and Kapp Heer. The three trappers, Nøis, Oxaas and Pedersen looked after some of the properties. The government took over Russekeila and the area in Nordfjorden, while Colesdalen was bought by Store Norske Spitsbergen Kulkompani.
